Fifth Element, The Easter Egg - Rave Culture References in the Movie

During the chase scene in the beginning of the movie between Milla/Bruce and the cops, you'll notice that the "rear view" mirror of every cop "car" has stuff hanging from it. You'll notice glowsticks in almost every car and a whistle or two. Maybe even a pacifier?

These are common items found at raves, and can actually be called "icons" of the culture.. I am 99% certain that these were intentionally placed there with raves in mind.

A lot of the cameos done were models, Jean Paul Gaultier designed the costumes. Ok, so the point. The woman with the dragon tattoo on her head (see her when the dog-type thing is checking in as Corbin Dallas at the ticket counter) is a club kid. Of course, drugs, parties and models seem to go together sometimes.

The girl with the shaved head sporting the tattoo is Eve Salvail, one of the most beautiful creatures you will find in this mortal coil (IMHO). And what makes you think she's a "club kid"? I derive no club references from the movie.

Ever been in a big city? There a lot of people who look "weird" like that, almost exactly like in the movie. There's more and more "weird" styles everyday. Since this takes place in the future everyone has clothes like that. Well the "cool" people anyway.

I'm with you Apollyon. It's not that big of a deal..it's just something someone noticed, that was how they interpreted it. They saw pacifiers and glow sticks, they thought about raves...everything is open to personal interpretation.

Also, I swear that R2-D2 and C-3PO are carved on the wall at the beginning of the movie. Go look.
