Joe Dante got his start with Roger Corman, and inevitably includes some kind of tribute to Corman in his varioius films. These typically include either cameoing Corman himself (The Howling), or using Dick Miller, who appeared in Corman's "Little Shop of Horrors" and whom Dante has been using in practically every movie since.
