Quake Easter Egg - Nine Inch Nails Logo

Just look at any on the nail crates, the NIN logo is on it. Trent Reznor wrote some of the music for the game.

Hey! I submitted this egg a good while back and was advised to send it to Triviastic instead as it 'didn't technically classify as an egg'! Oh yeah, and the NIN reference is only in Quake, not Q2 or Q3...They don't have nailguns for a start and Reznor did the music for Quake alone.

You sure know how to find the easiest eggs *grin* There are no nailboxes in Q2 or Q3, so there's no where the NIN can be put. Plus Sonic Mayhem (http://www.sonicmayhem.com) did most of the music for Q2 and Q3.

I find it amazing that it took till now for that "egg" to be posted. Quake came out how long ago and someone thinks they are smart enough to post this "egg" ?? Come on.

I don't think this should clasify as an egg. It is obvious to everyone that NIN is on the boxes of nails. Its like saying the windows startup screen is an egg for windows.

Hey, I thought Rob Zombie (Mr White Zombie himself) did the music for Q2. Maybe I'm wrong. Sounds like his stuff though, especially CD Tracks 7 and 9 on the Q2 CD.

Rob Zombie did the music that plays during the intro movie. (Not the one with the Q2 logo, but rather the one that tells the "story" behind the game.) Sonic Mayhem did the remainder of the songs, and they did all the music for Quake 3. Reznor/NIN is/are going to do the music for the upcoming DOOM game that id is working on. At least that was the last they mentioned on the subject.

OK, lets get a few things straight here. First, this does not count as an egg. Everyone knows that Reznor (AKA NIN)did both the music AND sound effects for the first Quake. And the NIN on the nail boxes are not really THAT hidden. So no! NO EGG! Second, Rob Zombie did the music for the intro movie and the first stage... He may have done a few other tracks, I'm not sure. SonicMayham did the music for Q ]|[. I should know. I have all 3 and I am a big NIN and Zombie fan. Dopefish=egg? Yes. NIN on nailboxes? NO. P.S. They ought to get both Reznor AND Manson for the soundtrack for DOOM3.

The NIN logo is also visible in the lights in Quake 1, at least in the first level, but its very difficult to find - if you stand in the right spot and face the right way, the lights the the shape of the logo.

I found another NIN logo in The Pain Maze (map E4M6). Go to the place where you used the gold key (e.g. the place where the gold key activates the elevator) and look up to the circle on the ceiling. You can find hardly a VERY small logo here, if you check it at short range.

Mr. Zombie made the track 10 on the Quake II soundtrack....it´s called "The Quake II Theme Song"...repair that the intro of the song sounds like the intro of the NIN´s song "Quake Theme" from the first game...take a look....bye

1. the NIN signs aren't "easter eggs" as such, they're to show you who was associated with the game. Trent did the music and sound effects for Quake (it was he who did the choking sounds when you run out of air underwater). 2. The reason there are no NIN boxes in Q3A is because NIN didn't do the music, Front Line Assembly (a much better Industrial band) did.
