Back to the Future Easter Egg - CRM 114

CRM 114 appears in some form in many, if not all, Stanley Kubrick films. (See the Stanley Kubrick Section for more info).

Perhaps in tribute to another great director, Steve Spielberg slipped CRM 114 into "Back to the Future" as well. As the movie opens, Marty goes to Doc Brown's house and plugs his guitar into a giant amplifier. The amplifier has CRM 114 printed on it in big letters.

You mean Robert Zemekis, as Spielberg didn't direct this!

Seems very similar to the way George Lucas continually uses/references THX-1138.

Oswald, while Zemeckis did direct this movie, it's very likely that this was done by Spielberg ,the executive producer, because he was a friend of Kubrick's.

I would of thought that George Lucas would constantly use THX in his movies aa that is the company that does the sound. (Dolby is another one for example)

The Producers added that because they were huge fans of Dr. Strangelove

Actually, Lucas uses Thxbecause that was part of the title of his first feature length film, THX 1138. He then used THX as the name for his company, and places 1138 in all of his movies.
