Friends in Low Places (Garth Brooks) Easter Egg - Fried Microphone, Push, Marie!

On the song "Friends in Low Places", Towards the end of the song, where the band is singing "Yeah I've got friends in Low Places" repetitively, listen close for a crackle in the song. No the CD isn't messed up, The story is that one of the microphones got beer spilled on it and the microphone was fried. Shortly after that, Garth yells out "PUSH, MARIE!!!" Story has it, that one of the band members' wife was extremely pregnant and was due to have the baby any day.

I'm not sure of the song timing, but if someone would post them it would be great!

Are you sure? It sounds to me like someone is just cracking open a cold one. I'll have to listen again, though.

Garth said something about this at one of the concerts that I attended. Yes, Marie was the wife of a band member due to give birth. I don't know about the beer on the microphone though.

I think they are right about it sounding like a beer opening, but I did hear the "Push, Marie!" That's pretty cool. I hadn't noticed that before, and I must have listened to that song a thousand times or more.

I listened to the song - the timing for the beer opening is at 3:28, and at about 3:31 it sounds like someone is screaming because it spilled.

It's on there. I listened for it last night. If you listen closely you can hear Garth yell,"Push Marie," at 3 minutes and 41 seconds. And shortly before that, you can hear the fried microphone. You can hear it a little bit after that too.

I have never noticed that "push Marie" until now! First time I listened for it, I heard it! I have always noticed little noises in the song towards the end that sounds like a can being opened. So that part is not news to me. Thanks for letting us know! This is neat!
