This egg is not found in "Temple of Doom". It's in "Raiders of the Lost Ark".

THX-1138 is the film that George Lucas made after or at university. I think Francis Ford Coppola helped him out...or maybe that was American Grafiti...

That's also why Lucas' quality-control criterion to assure consistent and optimal audio and visual performance in theaters (and on DVD) is also called THX

To Scarecrow... George Lucas did THX-1138 as a film school project and it was very rough but enough to graduate. Afterwards, he went to work with Coppola at his production company (Zoetrope, I believe). While there, he remade THX-1138 starring Robert Duvall.

THX-1138 shows up in Star Wars as well. When Luke and Han bring Chewie to the detention area on the Death Star, Luke tells the guard Chewie is a "prisoner transfer from cell block 1138."

To be a bit more specific "THX-1138" was one of Lucas' first films, and perhaps also the one that got him a bit more noticed in the film industry. It's basically a Sci-Fi movie about robots (To put it roughly ;) ) Anyways, ever since Lucas has managed to slip in the word "THX-1138" or just the number "1138" into his films. For example in American Graffiti "THX-1138" is a license plate, in Star Wars, A New Hope "1138" is the number of a cellblock and the list goes on. And "THX-1138" has of course also given name to Lucas' sound system, THX. Hope this clearifies some stuff...might be some errors though.

if I remember correctly, i think the THX originally comes from a license plate Lucas had a long while back....
