At the beginning of the song, a reversed portion. They're singing - "Face the mighty waterfall, face the mighty waterfall" (which is the backing vocal track for the song "Waterfall," the second song on the album.)

Mike B. writes:: In the first 12 seconds, as the song fades in, there IS backward masking in Down Home Town, AND there is ALSO backward masking in Fire on High from about 28 seconds to 53 seconds into it.
