Not true that there are none in America. I haven't seen any lately (I haven't been looking) but I remember one at the local pizza parlor and some at arcades when I was younger. I live in the Seattle area of the USA.

For all of you sad, cheap people out there who think that the vending machine manufacturers would actually be STUPID enough to program some sort of code into the machine that would dispense free chocolate, THINK AGAIN!

110 is a common code used on many vending machines. It works on a lot of older coca cola machines

The one at my school is a very old version. We found out that we can jam the machine and get free (well 5p chocolate) chocolate by entering 5p and selecting a chocolate. It then comes up "Not enough Funds enter 35p (all the chocolate is 40p)" then press the button again with a small pin in the admin's key slot. If you do it right the machine flash a few time and then says "Machine is OK" and gives you your chocolate!

If 110 doesn't work, you can also try 112 and 114. They do the same thing. While I was in Germany I tried something like 151 did something but I don't know what because I didn't understand the German..... I tried it in the UK and it doesn't work.

Sad, stupid people? I was in the housing office of the little manufactured home community we used to live in (gaak, "manufactured homes" community my foot, it was more like a "cardboard box" lot), and one of the maintenance guys who worked there came up to the vending machine, hit a few numbers on the keypad, and BEEP went the machine and dumped out the first item from every slot on the leftmost column for a total of 4 free snacks, which normally would have cost about 2 bucks. For those who want to try this, I think he punched in the number 5 about 8 times, and paused a few seconds (it sounded as though he was quietly counting out the seconds, I think it was about 5 seconds) and then hit A (the letter of the column that it dumped the stuff out of). I can't remember what brand of machine it was, I seem to remember cursive lettering with a crown above it on the machine though.

I discovered that when i was about seven... Mostly you get 'ok, no problems' but every so often you get something wrong. I always hope that it will announce it wants to give me free chocolate and do so, but it hasn't yet.

in Alperton undergroung station in London, if you put 40p in, and then press 110, and wait about a minute, you get not one, but 3 of the items available in the machine! (most of the time it is a dairy milk, a cadbury's caramel and a Wrigley's Extra, but i have had other combinations too.)
21 of 39 people found this comment helpful. Did you? Yes No
I tried this on the one in my school, I got something along the lines of: "Con Error. Check Switch 11." Then it returned to normal. 11 is the key combo for the first two items in the machine, Dairy Milks, and I've NEVER seen anyone get one... always says sold out, guess now I know why :) If you put in the 40p, then hit the right side just as it releases, sometimes you get two. I used to know the exact place, but I've forgotten it =/

For all the people asking where you find these machines the answer is IN THE UK!!! For anyone who lives in the UK and wants to know a place where they can find machines to test this out on then try the Cadbury factory in Birmingham or Alton Towers Theme Park (theres loads there... about 5 in each ride queue plus Coca Cola machines too)...

Muff13, there are codes present which will technically allow you free chocolate. This is how they open the Cadburys machines on the London underground, a code is entered which requests a password then a password is entered to open the entire front of the machine, allowing acces to the chocolate and, i assume , the money. something strangely overlooked by all of yousomething strangely overlooked by all of you! :D I don't know any actual codes but a mate does, however the password is changed monthly so you're gonna need to befriend a tube vending machine engineer!

My school is full of nerds and geeks (I being 1 or both), but the vending machines would get hacked 3 or 4 times a year; which would range from a simple message ("students 1 teacher 0"), to the prices set to 0, and the machine giving 999 of the item you ordered.
