American Psycho Easter Egg - Brothers Connected

In the gruesome book by Brett Easton-ellis called American Psyco, the hero Patrick Bateman meets up with his Brother and imagines him hanging himself with a tie he buys him for Christmas.

His brother is the Sean Bateman from Rules of Attraction who actually attempts to hang himself with a tie in the book.

Wonder how many Easton-Ellis fans spotted that?

I had noticed the same characters, but they aren't the egg here. The Tie Suicide attempt is the Egg. Oh why Oh why must everyone pickup on smelling pisstakes instead of the important stuff?!! Forgive me for spelling his name wrong. For those that are interested, Brett is gay.

Look, Ellis is trying to do that. Remember Less Than Zero? When Clay was visiting his mother, and in American Psycho, Patrick visits mommy dearest and they use the same dialog in both books during their conversations(Clay and mother and Pat and mother).

At a reading in Washington DC, Ellis revealed that he had originally had Pat Bateman killing off Allison Poole, the main character from Jay McIrney's unremarkable followup to Bright Lights _Story of My Life_ -- as a joke to piss off his colleague. Jay got mad at him and so Ellis changed the name (though I think he said that she is still in a scene).

Well, did you notice that Pat Bateman decides not to give his brother the tie? He gives him an useless Casio-Device instead. So the "Egg" does not work.
