Unreal Tournament Easter Egg - Marine Wins Tournament?!

Due to it being a unique map you cannot cheat to get, you must have completed every map in one area of Single player UT. After beating the final mission of any game type, you are taken to an in-game "Trophy room" where you character gets a new trophy and does a victory salute. Now, activate the "fly" cheat code. This will give you control of your view instead of having it follow a pre-made path. Move your character over to one of the big red wavy banners. It should say "Former champions" or something to that extent. There are many names there, starting with the game-story Champion (Xan K), but at the bottom, there is one other one - Green Marine. He worked on UT.

There are also some other names between Xan's and Green Marine, but I dont know if these were people who worked on UT or not.

Sounds a lot like the Green Marine of Doom fame too... just a thought...

I think this is a reference to Brandon "Green Marine" Reinhardt, one of the guys who worked on UT.

I don't see why this couldn't be a reference to Doom. After all, Duke Nukem 3D was made by 3D Realms, and they included Doom references. They are all just paying homage to the master.

Try doing the same thing to the the opening of the game. You can explore a really big and weird world. I don't know if there are any easter eggs.

You can actually load these maps for playing, as they are all in the 'maps' subdirectory in your UnrealTournament directory. The City Intro scene is named, appropriately, "CityIntro.unr". Simply make a copy of this file (you need to leave the original one there, otherwise the game will not load), in the same directory, and add 'DM-' (without the quotes) to the beginning of the filename. It will then show up as a deathmatch level. You can change the heading to a different maptype (AS, CTF, DOM), but none will really play well, due to the fact there are no weapons, flags, domination points or assault goals programmed. In fact, all the bots will fly along the same course as you do, and there's no way to alter that. The trophy room is composed of several separate maps, one for each type of game, all beginning with 'EOL' (end of ladder). They can be played the same way, by copying, then changing the filename. They suffer the same limitations, though, but it's still pretty neat.
