In the scene where Johnny is in the hospital, a nurse comes up to him and says that his mother is there to see him. The nurse is actually S.E. Hinton, the author of The Outsiders.

that's actually incorrect. the nurse in Dallas' room is SE Hinton, and you can verify it by going to the SE Hinton web page.
