Star Wars: A New Hope Soundtrack Easter Egg - Hidden Tracks

After the last piece on the first disc ends and the cd player says it's still playing the track, wait a few minutes. You'll suddenly here a gentleman say "Take sixteen!" and a variant of the original Star Wars main title will play. Keep listening, there are three other variants after the first.

If you read the book that comes with the CD (pg. 18-19), it tells you: "As a special bonus, all five recorded takes of the Main Title are presented at the end of track 13 on Compact Disc 1. At the conclusion of "Binary Sunset (alternate)," two minutes and forty-five seconds of silence precedes the continuous presentation of takes 16-20, complete with slate numbers and incidental noise. Take 16 has particular historic value, as it is the world's first recording of the Star Wars theme. In it the wind section provides prominent flourish, which was then toned down in take 17 after Williams and Lucas evaluated the playback. The addition of brass to the second half of the cue distinguishes takes 18, 19, and 20, portions of which were utilized to create the edited Main Title as heard on track 2 and in the film." ^ (Word for word what's in the book.)

Also, if you play to this hidden track and then skip back a track three times quickly, it explodes!
