Final Fantasy - The Spirits Within Easter Egg - Operated by PalmOS

When the general arrives on the Zeus Cannon look at the computer display screen that shows Earth. In the upper right hand corner of the screen you will is a small PalmOS symbol. It flashes by quick and is out-of-the-way, so watch carefully.

The Palm Powered Logo can also be found when Aki first shoots that orange flare gun in Old NY City. The flare will illuminate some logos/ads, the Palm Powered logo among them.

When Sid presents his opposing waveform theory to the council, (with the red and blue wave thing) there is a small (Palm) Powered) logo in the lower left corner. :)

This is not a PALM Symbol!!!! This is what in the movie industry is called a cigarette burn, so that the person that is working the projector knows when to change reals. Watch "Fight Club" some time!

Actually, If you were paying attention, You would notice the screen be shown and then something else happening, then it was shown again. It is up on the screen for a total of at least 5 seconds, and if you look closely, you should be able to spot it easily. Me and my friend, the almighty likwuid_ice, caught it on our first trip to see it, and confirmed it on our second.

If you own the DVD, and your DVD player can zoom, you can see that it is obviously a Palm logo. It says "Palm Powered"

That is the Palm emblem ('palm' in white, in black circle, in a grey ellipse with the words 'powered' in dark grey), but it isn't on the Earth display. It's actually clearly visible in the top right corner of the hologram vidscreen during the conversation between General Hein and Councilman #1 (Keith David).

On dvd's they remove the "cigarette burns" because they aren't neccessary. they are included in Fight Club because they are neccessary to the story, and Tyler even points one out. The symbol in Final Fantasy is most definitely the Palm symbol.

Just a note, the cigarette burns don't let the projectionist "know" when to change the reel. They show up because he "has" changed the reel.

Actually, the cigarette burns were used to synchronize the changing of projectors. When the first burn appeared, the second projector was turned on and when the second burn appeared, the shutters were shifted. It's been over 25 years since I ran a movie theater but I do remember the burns. If you missed the cues (burns) the audience howled because you had a dead screen for a few seconds.
