Yahoo Messenger Easter Egg - Yahoo Yodel

1. Start Messenger
2. You must have a messenger window open and be talking to someone.
3. Type the following code into your window brackets and all <snd=yahoo>
4. Send it to the person you are talking to.
5. You should hear the Yahoo yodel that is famous to the commercials.

Note: the person you send this to should be able to hear it, but only if their window in maximized. If it is minimized they will only hear a chime.

I did not find this someone sent it to me. ^_^ so don't credit me with it!

there are several other yahoo messenger sounds there is , a woman says "yahoomail", , literally a cow bell, a phone ringing, this will sound like a door creaking shut (the sound that yahoo messenger makes when someone from your buddy list logs off of yahoo.

actually, this is not as much an easter egg as a feature... it appears that you can play any of the yahoo sounds in the "Yahoo!\messenger\media" folder using the shortcut... ex: try . it's the same sound. as another example. it probably works with any of those. Also, if you have yourself in your list of friends (like I do, since I like to make sure my status is known), you can send a message to yourself that way... the sound will just repeat itself.

Actually, this works for any wave file saved in the C:\ProgramFiles\YahooMessenger\Media directory. But the same wav file has to be saved on the other user's computer for them to hear it too.

This also works if you use the word "door" instead of "yahoo" because that is also a sound that yahoo messenger uses. It will make the standard door creak sound...

If you copy and paste in the message window as many times as it will let you and send the message, you and whoever you sent the message to will get an error message and Messenger will shut down. Very helpful when you want to get rid of annoying people.

Drunkenkitty12, the only reason it does that is because the computer receiving the s is a slow computer. Have enough RAM and you are invincible from this trick.

Doesn't work at all, then again maybe the newer versions don't let you do that.

If you look at the the way the yodel sound its put in it appears ok. But when you send it to yourself it goes to you as the same except under it it says it again but minus the symbol that is the first before snd. Not sure why it comes out this way. Is this why it doesn't make a sound? It did not used to show this way!
