Canterbury Cathedral, UK Easter Egg - Rude Lady

At the main gate to Canterbury Cathedral there is a carved arch-way. Look at the lowest level of the arch and you should see three rows on which are carved leaves. Take a close look at the exact center of the top row. You should be able to see a naked woman lying supine, head thrown back in ecstasy. Her genitalia are very pronounced.

The story goes that the church were trying to get out of paying what was due the stonemason that was working on the arch-way. He finally accepted a payment lower than the agreed, but got his revenge by putting in this rudest of carvings.

This isn't really an egg, but if you go into the cathedral crypt on one of the columns you'll see quite clearly this weird life-sized image of a man in a monk's get up. My Dad was a choirboy at Canterbury and they reckoned it ws Thomas Beckett's ghost! Aw, cute.

Hey, why isn't this on the top of the "Top 25 Easter Eggs" list?

I take great satisfaction in knowing that I was the one who realized that this was only a few votes away from making the top 25 list, and being the person who supplied those votes.

And now, a public service announcement bought to you by fats: Hello, I'm fats, frequent commenter and hopeful future egg publisher of eeggs.com. Did you know that there are eggs on this site that were published over a year ago, and yet practicaly no one has even glanced at them, much less vote on them? It is the sad truth. That is why I have founded the "Sponsor an eegg" program. It's simple, easy and dosen't cost you a thing. The way it works is that you browse an archive on this site, and find an egg that hasn't been voted on yet. Next, read it and see if you like it. Next, test it and see if it works. If it does, the vote on it, and give it a 10! And vote on it. And vote on it. And vote on it. And vote on it, until you have voted enough times for it to reach the "top 25 easter eggs" list (about 40 times should do it) Note: Only one vote per computer per day, so be patient (or just use your friend's computer). Yes, this does work with newer eggs, but why not help those who have been strugling for a long while? They are excellent eggs, and simply need a chance to make it to the big times. So remember: Next time you want to do a good deed, go the "Sponsor an eegg" route, and give these eggs a chance. Why? Because it's cheaper than real charity, dum dum! And for those of you who don't think this will work, just remember: I have sponsored this very egg I'm posting on, and look at it now! Good work, Jack Dinn!

Don't you think that you should vote for the eggs that deserve to be on the top (the best eggs) not ones that work because really they are all sappose to work. Dont just give mercy votes give votes to show visitors the REAL best, not just some that havnt been seen for a while...
