Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone Easter Egg - And the Trophy Goes To...

For those watching on DVD, go to chapter 15, or fast forward on your vcr to the scene where Harry first rides his broomstick. As Harry, Ron and Hermione approach the trophy case to see Harry's father's trophy, you can read names on two other awards. On the right is a trophy awarded to M. G. McGonagall, an obvious reference to Professor Minerva McGonagall. To the left however is a trophy with the name R.J.H. King on it. This is a secret nod to one of the film's supervising art directors, John (J.) King, and one of the set designers, Rosie Hardwick (the R.and H.).

i just noticed that about 20 minutes ago when i watched the movie. i didn't know about the king person, but i noticed the mcgonagall reference and thought it pretty spiffy. and to whomever said that tom riddle's award was next to james', i suggest you go read the book again. it never says anywhere in the book that james potter won an award for quidditch, professor mcgonagall tells harry that his father was a quidditch player.

Kelly, just to let you know, Harry's dad does have a trophey for quidditch. It is actually the quidditch cup trophey, and you can see it when Hermione tell Harry that he won't make a fool of himself because it's in his blood. I saw this egg, too. I didn't know who the King one was, but I thought it was pretty cool that Professor McGonegall had one.

The Voice writes:
Consider the possibility that R J H King is the name of a professor of philosophy who graduated from St. Thomas Choir School, New York City, in the year mentioned and who then attended Interlochen Arts Academy, Michigan, where he met students who have later featured in the performing arts. A former fellow student might have taken his name for fun or randomly from a year book.

This could be another McGonagall, or ancestor of prof. Minerva.

could it be a reference to the initials left in the horcrux in HP-half blood prince?
