Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone Easter Egg - Uncredited Cameo

When Hagrid drops Harry's name in the Leaky Cauldron, everyone pays him instant attention. Just after an old man says "Welcome back, Mr. Potter...welcome back", a woman introduces herself to him (she gives a name, Doris Crawford). But she is not mentioned in the credits at all (they're in order of appearance, so her name would be right before Professor Quirrell's). Why? Because it appears that this is "Harry Potter" author J.K. Rowling in an unbilled cameo.

Um, have you ever seen a picture of JK Rowling? That woman (whose character is named Doris Crockford) is definitely not her. And the other comment is correct; JK Rowling has confirmed that she did not want to do a cameo in the movie.

Where did you here that? I have read a numerous amount of interviews and everytime she gets asks this question she says no. I think you should learn how to backup your information.

I don't know if the lady was her or not, but one of you are wrong. So if you are going to put your comment on here, get your facts straight!

I read somewhere (and don't ask me where, I can't remember), that J.K. Rowling played Harry's mom...and is Doris Crockford the one in the book who "kept coming back for more"? (I haven't read the book in almost a year).

And she isn't playing Harry's mother. I looked at the cast list in the credits and I saw that it was Geraldine something. I can't remember her last name. The actress is really pretty though isn't she?

J.K. Rowling is hardly over 40 years old or something like that. Doris Crockford is mentioned a couple times in the book, and she is said to be elderly. And, J.K. Rowling did not have a cameo in any of the movies. I have proof to this, and if you want it, e-mail me.

J.K Rowling was not Harry's mother. She said it in her interviews that she did not want to do cameos in any of the films.

I think the actress that plays Doris is the same one that plays Carter's grandmother on E.R.

JK is not actually in this movie but she does make an uncredited cameo in Chamber of Secrets. When Harry gets lost in Knockturn Alley JK is one of the witches approaching him when he leaves the shop. If you pause the movie you can actually tell it is her under the crooked nose! ;)

Hello! Have any of you been to jkrowling.com? In the rumors section, she has squashed this rumor. She is not witch number one nor any other person in the film. If you don't believe me, check the site.

J.K. Rowling was not in the movie. She was not Harry's mother in the mirror, she was not the witch in the pub, she was not the witch in Knocturn Ally, she was not in movie three, or movie four, and she will not be in 5 or 6. She has specifically said many times over, on her site and in interviews, that she was not and will not be in any of the Harry Potter Movies.

While she may have done an interview or two where she claims to not like seeing herself on film, at 1:02:21 into "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire", during the first trial ( trial of the dragons) as everyone is waiting for Harry to come back after leading his dragon away you get a shot of Hagrid looking worried. To Hagrid's right is a dwarf/midget and to the right of him is JK Rowling, wearing a brown fur hat.

I found JK Rowling appearing in The Chamber of Secrets. Just after Ron & Harry crashed into the wall of Platform 9 & 3/4s, a brief glimpse of JK Rowling is seen talking to the Train Conductor looking back to see the ruckus that Ron & Harry caused. Rowling has her hair cut past shoulder length with heavy eyeliner makeup. She's got the same prominent nose, chin and cheek bones. She essentially plays a muggle in the train station.

Whether or not J.K. Rowling has an unmarked cameo, it is possible for her to be in the movies as the others below have stated. Have you heard of makeup? They can make a young person look really old. They can make anyone look completely different than what they do in real life. It is rather strange that Doris Crawford is not listed in the credits. But I don't think it is her.

To Be Honest I Think it was her cos I think what she meant was she did like seeing herself as herself on camera but as someone else with make-up possibly so you`ve got to leave the believers to believe and haters to hate but just remember opinions are a virtue and they are all different.
