Smithee, Alan - Alan Who?

In many movies and music videos, the director is listed as Alan Smithee. Here's the egg: There is no Alan Smithee. Alan Smithee is a pseudonym used by directors who do not want to be associated with a film. I have only seen this on music videos, but it is widely used. Look around for it.

Though I cannot remember which one, I distinctly remember some film (I think one about Mr. Burns' life or childhood) was by "Alan Smithee".
