League of Extraodinary Gentlemen Easter Egg - War of the Worlds Reference

As the League pull up to Grays house, the camera pans across the docks to a side of a building then to Nemo's car pulling up. On the side of the building there is a newspaper with the heading "Volcanos on Mars" or something to that effect.

This is a reference to the book "War of the Worlds" which was set at the same time as this movie (At the end of the 19th century, dawn of the 20th century).

In the book, scientests first think that the explosions on Mars were volcanoes. The explosions are actually the flames from the Martian gun, by which means the Martians fired capsules of their "advanced troops" to Earth in order to take over our planet for themselves.

The Explosions on mars reference is actually in the Comic version of LOEG and the second volume of LOEG is their own version of War of the worlds, they have to save London from the alien tripods...this time David Essex is no where to be seen
