Somewhere I belong (Linkin Park) Easter Egg - Backward Song

I guess the first :25 seconds of the song is unknowingly backwards at first listening. Want to uncover the actual song? Follow these instructions:

1. Open up Windows Sound Recorder from Start > Programs [or all programs] > Accesories > Entertainment > Sound recorder.
[other stuff may work too, but this is what I recommend]

2. Open into the program a Wave version of Linkin Park's "somewhere I belong".

3. Scroll the slider to 25 seconds into the clip.

4. Then from the menu bar, select Effects > Reverse.

5. Press Play and enjoy.

What The interesting thing is is that most people I played it to doesn't noticed that it played backwards at the first part. It took me by surprise too when I was messed around with it one day.

its no lie. and theres no lyrics. its just a sound of a guitar playing backwards (to spoil the surprise) when you originally play the song. When you reverse the first 25 seconds of the song, it's a guitar solo.

This is very much true. I have Linkin Park's Making of Meteora DVD which chronicles the making of their CD "Meteora" and when discussing the song "Somewhere I Belong" they say how Chester recorded a piece and Hahn reversed it so it is backwards. They even have footage of when they reversed it. And yeah this part has no lyrics...its just an instrumental piece.

I heard that it was just Chester on acoustic guitar. Oh well, not everything we hear can be true.

Yes, I just listened to it on LinkinPark.com. It's definately backwards. I honestly think it sounds better backwards, though. Sounds cooler, of course.
