The first episode of The Batman, "Bats in the Belfry," shows a sequence in Arkham from a semi over-head view of celldoors in the asylum opening. On the right, toward the bottom, a blond man emerges from a cell; this is Bruce Timm, producer of the previous Batman Animated. Later, as the police arrive, there are people walking in front of the squad car. The one with messy black hair in the front coming from the left who turns to face the camera is Paul Dini, Batman Animated writer. Coming from the right to cross over Paul and then block the camera is what looks like Alan Burnett, another Batman Animated producer. There were several other people but it is hard to be certain who they were.

The young producers of this new series have stated in panels that they highly respect the old show and were big fans of it -- no surprise then that they paid this little tribute!
