Halo Easter Egg - Hug and Make Up!

I'm not really sure if this is a genuine egg... but for talented players (My friend and I had a really hard time doing this), you get a special ending if you beat the game on legendary.
At the end of the game (after you have escaped from the pillar of autmn) there is a series of cinematics. One of these I have only seen after beating the game on legendary. It's something like this:
Sergeant Johnson and an elite are fighting over an assault rifle when they hear a LARGE boom. Still holding the rifle, they look over at the Pillar of Autumn as it begins to explode. The two rivals look at each other, realizing that they are not going to survive very much longer.
Sgt. Johnson curses and then, with outstretched arms, says to the elite, "This is it, baby. Hold me."
The two doomed souls hug each other just before the shock wave from the Pillar of Autmn reaches them.

It is explained in one of the Halo books. It says that Seargent Johnson, the one in the movie, and a few other marines grabbed a Pelican and escaped Halo, only to be rescued by Spartan 117 (Master Chief). The Secret Ending is probably some alternate reality because Master Chief claims he saw the Seargent devoured by Flood, to which the Seargent replies, "Heck, I'm made of tougher stuff then that". The Seargent has a rare immunity to the Flood for some reason and hence was able to survive.

He survived because of a brain condition caused from handling to many plasma grenades.

The egg (or part of it at least) is on the making of the game feature on the game.

there could be a possibility that Sgt. Johnson and the elite got teleported because it did not show them being blown apart.
