This isn't an egg. All iPods have this (the button sequence can vary though). As do most electronic devices these days (cell phones?). It's just a diagnostic, test section. When you take your ipod into the shop because it's not working. The "tech" will pop it into diagnostic mode to make sure everything is ok. You can test the hard drive, firewire/usb, remote, lcd etc etc. It's a well documented tool. can be helpful if your ipod is acting funny. Cheers..

This isn't an egg. This is a useful tool to use if your computer refuses to recognize your iPod as a removable device. Plug your iPod into the computer and put it into disk mode, and this will prod the computer to recognize it. To get it out of disk mode, reset the iPod. To do this, toggle the hold button on and off, then press down and hold the menu and select buttons until the apple logo appears. Note: this applies to newer iPods with click wheels, not the dock connector kind or the really old ones with the touch or scroll wheels.
