Also note something else: If you use the alphagram code wheree A=1, B=2, C=3, etc., then DADAMS totals 42.

It means that when you count up all the characters (letter, numbers and symbols) in the phrase The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy - 42 Answer to All you come up with a total of 42.

It's really pointless, because even Adams admitted that it was a made up number which is pretty random and funny sounding (actually from the sketch by John Cleese) and it gets the point on what the computer might said if asked a philosophical question.

Actually, if you count the number of letters in "The Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy - Douglas Adams" you get 42. Also, on the first book it says : Volume One in a Trilogy of Five. 1-3-5, that leaves out 4-2 .
