In Lemony Snickets, "A Series of Unfortunate Events," The children have a lawyer who goes by the name of Mr. Poe. Mr. Poe has two children, named Edgar and Allen. This is a reference to the writer Edgar Allen Poe, who was known for writing his dreary and depressing tales.

Mr Poe is a reference to Edgar Allen Poe, but in the books his sons names were Edhar and ALBERT, not Allen. And he's made references to real people in all his characters-for example, Baudelaire comes from Charles Baudelaire the poet and Isadora and Duncan Quagmire come from the dancer 'Isadora Duncan'...
