Love Is The Seventh Wave (Sting) Easter Egg - Papillon Reference

By the end of the song, there is a chorus line saying:''...Love is the seventh wave...'' It doesn't make much too much sense to the rest of the lyrics. But that changes, bearing in mind that Henri Charriere aka Papillon, immortalized by Steve McQueen in the ''Papillon'' movie, escaped the infamous Devil's Island prison in French Guiana by throwing himself off the cliff into the seventh wave, with a bag of coconuts. Waves rolled beneath the cliff always in particular succession and, by carefully observing it, Charriere realized that each seventh wave was more powerful than the others and that it just might be powerful enough to push him into the sea far out enough to not be pulled back and crushed against the cliffs. After several experiments only with sacks of coconuts, he finally threw himself into the seventh wave, and it worked! He escaped the supposedly inescapable island.
Sting hid the message of the song, that love is the life savior, into a metaphor.
