Windows Vista - Windows Vista Sounds and Hidden Music
This is not the hidden music from Windows XP. This is something "midi" style.
1. Press Win logo key and R. Then it will open Run.
2. Type in "Media" (without quotation marks)
3. It will get a folder of Windows sounds and hidden midi music.
My favorite hidden song is "onestop".
See if this works with Windows XP.

This is not an egg, these MIDI files have always been in the “%WINDIR%\Media” folder (I think since Windows 9x). This “run” trick works, because “Media” folder is within %PATH% environment variable. And this is the folder being shown if you try to change sounds in the Control Panel. Microsoft never meant to hide it. By the way, old versions of Windows had some classic MIDI music in there.

Well, this isn't exactly what would be called an egg, it's just another subfolder in the Windows folder, used for media files and sound alerts. You can access it from Windows Explorer, it's not hidden, and you won't screw anyting up. The run command is just the fastest way to do it. As much as I know, there's a "Media folder" in Windows 2000, ME, XP, Vista and maybe NT, but the "onestop" music IS an egg, because you can't hear it anywhere else.

I like onestop. If you listen closely around 1:05 to 1:21 it sounds like 42nd street.

Actually, they've included a "Media" folder, with sample WAVE and MIDI/RMI files, since at least Win95 (though I'm not sure about WinNT/2K). Under Win9X/ME, the folder's location should default to \Windows\Media.

It's also a cool place to get that test music from when you run a direct x test "flourish" ..(on XP) which is a catchy melody.
