on the first level and at the start of the level when you get out of the cryo tube as quickly as you can jump back into the cryo tube and you will see a master chief in the cryo tube with no head

I believe that would be Linda, Spartan number 058. She was a sniper for Master Chief's Squadron during the battle of Reach. She was injured during a showdown with numerous Covenant forces, and Chief dragged her back to the Pillar of Autumn to be cryogenically frozen until the Autumn had sufficient medical staff to revive her. This is one of the many references to the pre-Halo life of Master Chief.

i thought that linda died from her armour malfunction, didnt she coz theyre combat skin didnt evolve till project halo ended
