Donkey Kong 64 Easter Egg - It's a Mammal! Arrggghh!

Nintendo's next console = Dolphin...

Somewhere in DK64 is a picture of... A DOLPHIN!

In F-Zero X, Rainbow Road, some of the signs have... DOLPHINS!

In Wave Race you can ride... A DOLPHIN!!

In Pilotwing, one of the most common creatures are... DOLPHINS!!

In fact, there is a Dolphin reference in EVERY N64 game by Nintendo...

Okay, okay, okay, there are a lot of dolphins and pictures of them in Nintendo 64 games and they might have something to do with Nintendos next console but the name of the cosole is not sure yet, "Dolphin" is the name of the project, not the console itself.

ill have to agree with taz and and humpteydumptey that the next nintendo console is not going to be named "dolphin" but that is merely a code name, the great minds of nintendo are not that stupid to name the soon to be greatest console dolphin, additionally i dont think that the dolphin in wave race has anything to do with the new console because that game was made long before they thot of the console

Yes, I agree with me. Whereas i think dolphin is a fairly good name, it won't be it. In the same way that the 64 was codenamed project reality. Lets be honest. The Nintendo Reality? N64 nearly is as bad!

Yup. I gotta agree with some of you. As a Nintendo Power suscriber i know that Nintendo is working on the Dolphin PROJECT. It is only a code name. Nintendo is still coming up with a name. I think a good name is "Nintendo:Platinum" but that's only my opinion.

The name is thought to be Star Cube, but again, this may change. Also it was mentioned that the name is representative of it's shape- which raises the question of whether Mac's new computer (called "Cube") which IS shaped like a cube, is related to the next system. Also Nintendo's next system will run using open GL, and it is rumored that dev kits are mac based. But Im going WAY off the subject now....

Okay, this is retarded. It is merely coincidence that dolphins keep showing up in games. So, Dark Mine, tell me where there is a dolphin in Goldeneye 007? How about Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire? And, while I'm at it, I voted 0 on this egg.

I think it's probably more like Nintendo put dolphins in every one of their games, then they named the new project Dolphin after that.

Just back again to say that why would a big company like Nintendo even bother to stick dolphins in games?(if this egg isn't a complete lie)(which it is)You put things (like signs on the roads)in games so it adds to the scenery and complexity, not so people can go around saying that there are hidden dolphins in games. Relevance, folks. You have no clue it's even there, let alone you thinking that you can put a fake egg on http://www.eeggs.com, until you think about it.

To all the people that think the dolphins are by coincidence: Load up Majora's Mask and go to the "secret place" in Clock Town in the room directly below the dude with the telescope. Break the pots on the floor. What do you see underneath? A DOLPHIN. Tell me that's a coincidence and not an easter egg!

The dolphins in almost every game are in there for a purpose, the purpose was for advertising the "Dolphin Project"(A.K.A. the Game Cube). So that if enough people noticed the dolphin, then they would be looking for the next system before it came out. Let's just say, if you had a way of advertising a new system on an old system, would you take the chance. If you didn't YOU would be stupid! If you really have the desire to find the reason, write to the man upstairs and ask him yourself. ----------------------------- The main problem I have here is, this guy "Dark Mime" wrote something in this section that he thought was cool, and other people might think so to, so he spread the wealth to everyone that reads this. Some of us like to find out COOL stuff, while others cannot accept him, because they didn't think of it first. So "noses-up-in-the-air" people shouldn't cut down people who have good taste.--Lazer45(Ultimate Game Player)

Just so you guys know....the code name dolphin has been obsolete for ages now. It fell out of usage when Nintendo unveiled their newest console -- the Gamecube. Once again, dolphin hasn't been used in a while its irrelevant that dolphins are in many of the nintendo-made games(so stop trying to prove him wrong by mentioning any non nintendo-made game)since the new system has NOTHING to do with dolphins

Everyone posting here is so excessive! Everyone KNOWS it was the Dolphin until they were sure of the name! Everyone KNOWS it's the gamecube now! Yes, it's an easter egg that rareware decided to join in on for DK64! No, it's not advertising or they'd stop doing it now that it's not a dolphin anymore! It was just a harmless little inside joke and you all made it into a huge deal about who was more "into it"! Just CALM DOWN, 'cause I can't!

It is called the GameCube, as I own one. Where did you get StarCube from (Don't get mad at me for arguing ages-old posts)? Also, about Dolphins hidden in games, it's true. Since there is currently no new systems planned, they're still hiding Dolphins. I mean, think about the name of Captain Olimar (from Pikmin™)'s ship's name. The Dolphin. also, take out the "L" in Olimar's name and re-arrange the letters for another familiar name. :-) (Oh and BTW, Nintendo confirmed that the name of the ship is no coincidence, like some of you might accuse it of being.)

Nintendo's newest consule is called GCN (Gamecube). The internal system engine is called dolphin. Many sites mistook dolphin to be the true name of the gaming system, and spread the names throughout the internet. Nintendo as said many times that the internal system engine is called dolphin, while the system as a whole, they call Gamecube.

The Dolphin thing was NOT a coincidence---while making the Gamecube, Nintendo called it "Operation Dolphin" and they continue to have hints to dolphins on Gamecube today. For example, in Pikmin, Captain Olimar's ship is called the Dolphin, and in Super Mario Sunshine, if you look on the map you will find that Isle Delfino is shaped like a dolphin.
