Jurassic Park Easter Egg - Face in the Hub Cap

In Jurassic Park, after the Jeep has fallen out of the tree and the actors have moved on, the camera zooms into the wheel. Look carefully for the reflection of Steven Spielberg's face in the chrome.

EH EH to this egg...they don't zoom in on the Jeep's wheel and even if they did, there's no chrome left on the wheel for someone's face to be reflected in! What are you talking about?!

Its been a while since I saw it, but if I am not mistaken, there aren't any Jeeps in the movie...Only Ford 'Exploders'--Don't defame Jeep like that.

The T-rex kicked one of the electric tour cars into the tree, and the was an Explorer, I think. I think it was a Landcruiser in the book. But no jeeps get thrown into a tree.

I just watched this on dvd. I zoomed in and you can definitely see him. It looks like he's moving a video camera back and forth. Pretty cool. Good eye.

Yes, it was an Explorer that got thrown into the tree by a T-Rex...but I'm questioning this egg. It needs to be explained more carefully. At what point is Spielburg's face reflected in the chrome? After Dr. Sadler (Laura Dern) runs down to the car? At no point does the camera zoom in on the wheel of this Explorer. This egg sounds like it would be really neat, and I would love to see it, so please explain yourself more carefully!!

I would like to know what kind of crack you're smoking and why aren't you sharing? First of all, there is no zoom in shot of a wheel. Second, there is no chrome visible on the wheels to begin with, just yellow hubcaps. Third, it's a Ford Explorer, not a Jeep.

It is an Explorer not a jeep. The only jeeps they had was when they first arrived on the island. And the hub caps are yellow not chrome. They never did zoom it on one of the Explorer wheels. The only thing I can think you could mean is when they zoomed in on the T-Rex foot print but I'm not sure 'bout that.

Oh good, so I wasn't going crazy. I thought I was the only one who thought the hub-caps were yellow and not chrome. Oh and FYI, in Australia the car's called a Ford Maverick manufactured by a Japanese motor company, Nissan also bought the model from the same manufacturer(in the same way the 1980 Ford Laser is twinned with the Mazda 323) and called it a Patrol.

Ok.. to clear this up a bit. I was really sceptical on this Easter Egg, but I think I may be on to somthing. After Nedry gets mauled by the Dilophosaur, the film cuts to Grant washing his face by a water pipe. He walks over to the tree to try and get up to Tim, and you get a view of Alan from up by the car - more specifically by the wheel. If you look to what would be the bottom of the Alloy Wheel, there is a shiny patch and there is somthing moving around in that shiny bit.. is this the bit where you can make out Spielberg? I cant really see it, but there is somthing happening there.

Yes!!! It is true!!! I saw it!!! Is not a reflection on chrome, actually you need to see thru the hub cap, in a hole in the right side. Apparently Steven is directly under the car so you can see it looking upwards. You will need a good eye because is really small and he is moving during shot.

Arg... They DO show a zoom in on the Explorers wheel, once it has fallen in the tree... You CAN see SOMETHING going on in the wheel,or something... It's vague in my mind, but I know that they show a Zoom in of the wheel...

I can see the hint of action through the hub cap. Apparently people seem to think that this is Speilberg's face, when you can tell it's a STUPID LEAF when you zoom in.

I just looked for it on DVD, and the scenario you described doesn't even happen. The Explorer fell out of the tree. Tim said "we're back in the car again." Dr. Grant said "at least we're out of the tree." Then it left the scene, and shows the others pulling up in a Jeep, where the other Explorer is. Dr. Sattler sees the other Explorer over the wall. Then it goes to the next scene, where Dr. Sattler is down by the Explorer that fell out of the tree. She sees the foot prints, and it cuts to Ian Malcom. It never shows the wheel after the people have moved on. It doesn't even show anyone moving on. The last time it is shown is when Dr. Sattler is there. It never zooms in on the wheel, and it's not chrome, and non-reflective. Where did you come up with this?

Maybe there are two types of Movies? Like CDs. You know, say there are two albums, both are the same group, same cover, same songs, except one CD has a "BONUS TRACK" and the other one doesn't. Maybe it was just certain Jurassic Park videos with the Spielberg Bonus.

Err.... I have no idea if there's a face visible in that wheel at any time or not, but if it is, wouldn't that make it a slip up instead of an easter egg? Seriously, it's not like he MEANT to put his face in that wheel....

I think that all of you may be correct.I think that when this movie was put to DVD it was re-edited and some errors were erased, including this one. Those of you watching DVD will not see the error where as those watching VHS(tape) will.I say this because errors i saw in JP3 at the cinema are not on the DVD version I recently bought. Could this be the reason some of you can see the error and others disagree.(read more eggs of JP movies, Ive got plenty.)

For one im calling it a rim... not a hub cap. And two, it doesnt show chrome. and three, i see something shining on the rim when the "EXPLORER" is in the tree. not when everyones gone. I wouldnt call it Stevens face.

The close-up of the wheel is at 1 hr 12 min 17 sec on the Region 4 release of the movie, so it DOES exist. It's when Alan is calling to Timmy in the car in the tree, before Alan starts climbing up to him. If you look at the wheel in the close-up, you can see movement in its reflection in its right-hand side. However, it looks to me like a branch swaying, and not anyone's face.

No Jeeps? One of the most famous scenes in the movie happens in a jeep. When the T-Rex chases the jeep and you see the phrase, "Objects are closer than they appear" in the mirror. Better watch the movie again.
