This is supposedly a problem she has had before. The real reason for her impending committment is that she knows too much and is on the verge of putting it all together and probably blowing the whistle. Remember Martha Mitchell, the wife of John Mitchell? After the break-in of the Democratic HQ Martha became increasingly vocal that something illegal was going on as her husband and the White House struggled with their cover-up. Her husband and the White House tried to silence her with similar reports of mental instability and a possible committment. Both the real Martha and the fictional Martha Logan were right in their suspicions.
