The next time you watch Assassins, the scene where Miguel Baine (Banderas) and Robert Rath (Stallone) meet in the taxi and the encounter becomes "hostile" ... there is a scene in which Baine is attempting to fire his semi-auto rifle while hanging out of the back seat passenger window at Rath. In a defense maneuver Rath instinctively rams the passenger side of the cab against a city transit bus pressing Baine against it, and as the camera adjusts angle to view him dropping his rifle, you see on the advertising panel of the bus "NRA" crossed out. I believe this is partially a pun on him dropping his weapon. But what's more interesting is that the director, Richard Donner, is active in the NRA. Perhaps he is noting the persecution from others to his institution?
