This phenomenon is six books old. That would be six of sixteen. Some of Cussler’s appearances are: Fishing Boat Owner (Flood Tide), Race Car Driver (Dragon), Bar Owner (Inca Gold), Prospector (Sahara), the “old cuss” who is renovating a piece of equipment (Atlantis Found). It is obvious to the point of introducing himself as Clive Cussler to the main character (Dirk Pitt). It has become so simple a plot facet that the author seems to almost mock its foolishness in the latest novel.

Are you kidding me? Read the books, man! Cussler began his novels AFTER Dirk was born. So he named the hero of his books AFTER HIS SON.

Having never had the opportunity to read Dirk Pitt Revealed, I wouldn't knwo, but does it also reveal who Leigh Hunt (or Hunter) is? He an Admiral (or some naval rank) in Pacific Vortex, a News Reporter in Treasure, discovered the "River of Gold" in Inca Gold and I'm sure he's been in a few more. Any Ideas?

He wasn't in Night Probe, either. I thought he was in Raise the Titanic, but I can't remember what part he played in it. Clive Cussler had an awesome Yacht in Valhalla Rising which is a great book so far.

He is also in "Treasure". He is the owner of a gas station and Dirk and (Loren?) the girl he is with at the time stop to re-fuel.

He's also at the end of Trojan Oddysey. A man interested in one of Dirk's classic cars.

Leigh Hunt was my father. Cancer got him in 2007. I am also Leigh Hunt. I am not related to Clive, but I call him Uncle Clive. Those two guys have the most entertaining stories of their personal adventures. I love Clive for immortalizing my dad, and many other things.
